A Librarian in the Kitchen with a Rolling Pin

Bringing Home the Prize: Reference Librarian Johnathan Wilson on the
front steps of the Blagg-Huey Library with the award he garnered for
his entry--
Laura's Sticky Toffee Pudding Apple Pie--in the 2012
TWU SECC Pie Bake-Off.  October 17, 2012.
They provide research assistance, they teach, . . . they bake?

TWU Libraries Reference Librarians are adept at doing research, teaching, and assisting students, faculty members and other library patrons in a myriad of other ways.  One reference librarian at the Blagg-Huey Library on the Denton campus can now add award-winning baker to his resume.

Reference Librarian Johnathan Wilson's Laura's Sticky Toffee Pudding Apple Pie won first place in the Best Fruit-Filled Pie category of the 2012 TWU SECC Pie Bake-Off.  Quick to point out that the original recipe is another's, Johnathan nonetheless deserves full credit for making every delicious bit of the winning entry from scratch (and has graciously agreed to share the recipe
here.)

Johnathan's reputation as a baker is now firmly established.  A past bake-off winner, a Laura's Sticky Toffee Pudding Apple Pie he made was auctioned off for a winning bid of $125.  All auction proceeds benefit the SECC.

The
SECC (State Employee Charitable Campaign) is an annual workplace giving campaign.  Proceeds from the Pie Bake-Off and a Basket Auction, Volleyball Game, Chancellor's Luncheon and other events help TWU and the SECC raise tens of thousands of dollars annually for a wide variety of local, national and global health and human services.  The 2012 TWU SECC campaign runs through October 31st.
