The Texas Woman's University Libraries are pleased and proud to announce that TWU Librarian Johnathan Wilson (left) has been named the 2013 recipient of the TWU Award for Outstanding Contribution to the TWU Libraries.  This annual award, sponsored by Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Robert Neely and the Office of the Provost, recognizes the collegiality between library personnel and the greater university community.

In addition to serving as a valuable part of the libraries' Reference Department team, Johnathan, now in his fifth year of service at TWU, is the libraries' Subject Librarian for Criminal Justice, Government & Political Science, History, Law, and Literature & Language.  Known for his popular teaching style; technical abilities (he was instrumental in the development of the libraries' mobile app); and easygoing manner, Johnathan is also always eager to participate in university activities apart from his normal duties.  From playing volleyball for a good cause; to teaching classes; to participating in the annual TWU SECC Pie Bake-off (many of us can personally vouch for his made-from-scratch Laura's Sticky Toffee Pudding Apple Pie); to assisting faculty members and students with their research and much more, Johnathan is known for going the extra mile.  "He takes every opportunity to learn new things," says Assistant Dean for Research Connie Maxwell, "and finds ways to use them effectively to support the students and faculty at Texas Woman's University.  He is a pleasure to supervise."

For all of his talents, interests and responsibilities, Johnathan particularly enjoys his interactions with students.  "The best part of my job is working with the students," he says.  "It's a challenge to keep up with the variety of questions that we come across every day and it keeps my mind sharp having to learn about so many different topics."

The entire TWU community is invited to join in the celebration as Dr. Neely presents our colleague and friend Johnathan Wilson with the 2013 TWU Award for Outstanding Contribution to the TWU Libraries
Please mark your calendar for the award presentation and reception on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Joyce Thompson Lecture Hall (Room 101) of the Blagg-Huey Library on the Denton campus of TWU (the lecture hall is the first door on the right as you enter the building.)  Those on the Dallas and Houston campuses can view the proceedings live via video conference (in IHSD 4302 in Dallas; and in IHSH 3322 in Houston.)

From all of us with the TWU Libraries, Johnathan, our heartfelt congratulations to you for this well-deserved honor.

And try that pie, everyone.  You'll thank me later.
