This week (April 14-20, 2013) is National Library Week, a national observance sponsored each April by the American Library Association (ALA) and involving libraries of all kinds.  It's a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.  American Library Association

National Bookmobile Day, a traditional part of this annual observance, takes place this year on Wednesday, April 17, 2013--an ideal time for a little
bookmobile history

The Digital  Bookmobile--a 74-foot, 18-wheel high-tech tractor-trailer reading rig--is a one-of-a-kind
traveling exhibit which creates an engaging experience with the host school or library's "virtual
branch" website and collection of ebooks, audiobooks and more.  Digital Bookmobile
An ingenious Camel Bookmobile brings books to semi-nomadic people in Northeastern Kenya.
Whether your favorite library comes with or without wheels--or a hump--National Library Week is a good time to spend some time there and appreciate all that libraries do for us.
