New Semester, New Beginning: How to Make It a Smart Start

On behalf of the TWU Libraries, welcome to the Fall 2013 semester.  With all the promise that a fresh start brings, the beginning of a new academic year is one of the most exhilarating times at Texas Woman's University.

The TWU Libraries want to help faculty members and students make the most of the crucial but fleeting first month of school. We are pleased to introduce Start Smart, a series of Information Skills Workshops geared toward helping students become comfortable with a variety of useful library features.

These September workshops will introduce and re-familiarize new and returning students to archival collections; internet search strategies; literature reviews; the Woman's Collection Vault; the basics of PubMed; virtual and physical library resources; RefWorks; scholarly articles; and the vast resources of the Woman's Collection through the eyes of an archivist. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions, and will leave each of these informative sessions with a clearer understanding of the library and how it and its resources and services can be a valuable part of their academic experience.

We encourage students to attend as many of the Start Smart workshops as possible.  All workshops are offered on a first-come, first-served basis--so mark your calendar now for the workshops on the attached flyer. Questions? Contact us at reference@twu.edu or 940-898-3701.

Start the new academic year smart.  You'll be glad you did.
