Staff Picks: On the Road with Marilyn

Staff Picks features books read and recommended by TWU Libraries staff members. Today's edition is from Marilyn Goff, Medical Librarian with the Academic Resource Center (ARC) at Texas Woman's University Houston knowledge center.

I recently read a wonderful book.  I actually listened to the 28 DVDs on my daily two-hour Houston to Pearland round trip commute--and it was an eye opener.

In honor of the 45th anniversary of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination; the 50th anniversary of his I Have a Dream speech; U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy’s 1968 assassination; and the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s 1963 assassination, I read Legacy of Secrecy: The Long Shadow of the JFK Assassination by Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann.

This book details newly declassified data uncovering the motivation, planning and execution of these events, along with newly released admissions of guilt from many participants and corroborated testimony with solid evidence from unimpeachable sources. Leonardo DiCaprio is tentatively scheduled to release a movie version of Legacy of Secrecy in November, 2013.

Legacy of Secrecy: The Long Shadow of the JFK Assassination is a fantastic read both for those who lived through those days wondering what was happening, and for others who feel in any way inspired by any of these three great leaders.
