What The Best College Teachers and Students Do: Dr. Ken Bain to Speak at TWU

(Harvard University Press, 2012), is scheduled to speak on the 

Denton campus of TWU on Friday, March 21, 2014.
One date.  Two free sessions.  If you're interested in what the best college teachers and students do, mark your calendar for Friday, March 21, 2014, when distinguished academic and renowned author Dr. Ken Bain will be the featured speaker at two sessions of the 2014 Academic Success Lecture on the Denton campus of Texas Woman's University.

Dr. Bain, author of the now-classic What the Best College Teachers Do (Harvard University Press, 2004) and its sequel, the international bestseller What the Best College Students Do (Harvard University Press, 2012), will gear each session's remarks toward a specific segment of the TWU community (the morning session will focus on teaching and learning; the afternoon session will center on students and will include a discussion of What the Best College Students Do.) The registration deadline for the morning session is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.  No registration is necessary for the afternoon session.

All students on the TWU Denton campus are invited to attend.  A discussion with Dr. Bain of his book What the Best College Students Do.  Students will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Bain at a reception after his presentation.

Dr. Ken Bain is President of the Best Teachers Institute and former Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Professor of History and Urban Education, at the University of the District of Columbia.  Read more about Dr. Bain here.

What the Best College Teachers Do
 by Dr. Ken Bain won the 2004 Virginia and Warren Stone Prize for Outstanding Book on Education and Society and is widely acclaimed as a compilation of best practices for university teaching.  It has been used as a text by several TWU professors in preparing doctoral students for their academic teaching roles. Translated into 12 languages, it has been one of the top-selling books on higher education and was the subject of an award-winning television documentary series in 2007. What the Best College Students Do by Dr. Ken Bain won the Virginia and Warren Stone Prize in 2012 and has become an international bestseller.  It has been translated into Korean and Spanish; other editions are forthcoming.  It is available in print at the Blagg-Huey Library on the Denton campus.
