Children enrolled in The Clubhouse, an educational enrichment program for the children of TWU students and sponsored by the TWU Department of University Housing and Residence Lifehave been regular guests this summer of the (Denton) Blagg-Huey Library Children's Collection.

During their weekly visits the Clubhouse kids, ranging in age from 5 to 12, complete arts and crafts projects after story time with a TWU librarian. Staff members then help each child choose a children's book, which they check out for a week using personalized library cards designed by staff members in the library's Circulation Department. In sessions coordinated by Reference Librarian Jimmie Lyn Harris, library staff members--including Christina Cool, Annita Owens, Woody Evans, Abby Morris, Stephany Compton, and Susan Whitmer--lead the group of energetic early readers through the morning's fun. It's hard to say who has a better time--the children or the staff. "These are exceptional kids," says Harris.

When they're not at the library the Clubhouse kids enjoy a full slate of other activities including cooking, gardening, science activities, field trips, reading, arts and crafts, and more. For program details visit The Clubhouse page.
