The Texas Woman's University Libraries are pleased and proud to announce that TWU Librarian Suzi Townsdin has been named the 2017 recipient of the Texas Woman's University Award for Outstanding Contribution to the TWU LibrariesThis annual accolade, sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairsrecognizes the collegiality between library personnel and the greater university community.

In addition to serving as a valuable part of the libraries' Reference Department and its Research and User Experience unit, Suzi, now in her third year of librarianship at TWU, is the libraries' Subject Librarian for Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Foreign Language, Nutrition & Food Sciences, Physics, and Zoology and works closely with students and faculty members in those departments. She is known for her technical abilities and attention to detail (she is an administrator for the libraries' popular online Subject Guides and helped lead the libraries' transition between versions; was recognized for a nine-session seminar she led on the guides; and is an editor for the technology column of Public Services Quarterly). Suzi is also valued for her particularly helpful manner with students, faculty members, and colleagues. "Suzi is always willing to share what she knows to help others," says Librarian Stephany Compton. "She has really made a difference for me personally." An avid bicyclist, Suzi can often be seen riding on the Denton campus and in the local community.

For all of her responsibilities and talents, Suzi especially enjoys making a difference to members of the TWU community. "The best part of my job is helping people," she says. "I enjoy helping students and faculty find and access the information they need. It is very gratifying work to help make someone’s life a little easier, whether it’s by saving them time, being a guide, calming frustrations, or just by being a support to help them be more successful." All in all, Suzi says, "the students, faculty, and staff at TWU have been a joy to work with."

The entire TWU community is invited to join in the celebration as our colleague and friend Suzi Townsdin is presented with the 2017 Texas Woman's University Award for Outstanding Contribution to the TWU Libraries. Please mark your calendar for the award presentation and reception to be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Joyce Thompson Lecture Hall (Room 101) of the Blagg-Huey Library on the TWU Denton campus (the lecture hall is the first door on the right as you enter the building.) The proceedings will be broadcast live via video conference on the TWU Dallas campus (IHSD 8201) and the TWU Houston campus (IHSH 5305).

From all of us with the TWU Libraries, Suzi, our warmest and wholehearted congratulations to you for this well-deserved honor.
